All of my students show a dramatic increase in math achievement when using hands-on materials that they can touch and manipulate. They are more readily able to retain and explain the reasoning behind complex math concepts. Hands-on equations are a set of algebraic manipulatives that will allow my students to have higher achievement within the algebra component of the math curriculum. We are currently using a paper-based version of this kit and are having success, even though these paper pieces are difficult to use. However, the kit is necessary to receive the full benefit of learning how to do complex equations. The kit dice, in particular, make it much easier to find numbers that are needed to manipulate the equation instead of sifting through piles of paper-based numbers.
