Many of our students have sensory needs which are affected by the fluorescent lights of our traditional classroom. Research by Brenda Marrow and Shireen Kanakri (2018) as well as Mari Nistler (2019) have shown that fluorescent lighting increases: headaches, light sensitivity, stress levels, offsets sleep cycles, increases eye and vision problems, skin aging, and can result in a reduction of student ability to concentrate and focus. As a Title I school, we are extremely limited in a school budget for "extra" things. Our students are in dire need of a safe, nurturing, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment. Your donations toward these light covers for our sensory students as well as everyday (common) pencils will go so far for our students. Thank you so for your support! While this may seem like something small, it means the world to all of us.
