Students initially enter the room and work with direct instruction for 30 minutes. They then navigate through a schedule of reading centers of matching words to pictures, making words using magnet letters, reading sight words to each other, making words with lettered dice. In math the centers involve making pictures using shapes (i.e., parallegrams, rectangles, trianges, etc.) and recording the name of shapes used, using arrays to build addition and multiplication problems, using dice to create multiplication problems and calculating solutions, using dominos in addition and multiplication calculations, using manipulatives for division and subtraction problems recording math sentences and solving them. The Amazon Fire for Kids is an added center with learning games where students interact with technology having fun as they learn. This will not only add to the learning environment but will also catch students who are having a difficult day due to behaviors adding to their academic learning experiences.
