Our new writing curriculum suggests that students of all ages should use flair pens which make letter and word formation easier and more readable. These pens don't blob, smear or bleed through the paper. We teach the students that "When You're Done, You've Just Begun!" which means they can start a new piece or revise and edit one you have finished. We use a black pen to draft, a blue pen to revise, and a red pen to edit. We often laminate a copy of their books and stories to keep in the classroom for other children to read. This adds an especially exciting avenue to their Writers Workshop.
