One way students would benefit from their headphones is by expanding their knowledge of the world around them. When students listen to books, it inspires and creates curiosity. They are exposed to vocabulary, and genres that they might not explore if on a book shelf, yet will listen to, even if its above their reading capabilities. My students travel to foreign lands and experience new universes when listening to books. The excitement of turning the next page of a book becomes evident, when a child is engaged and captivated that all time passes them by. Another benefit of headphones is that each child could focus on their individual mathematical skills. My students are provided iPad's, but since many come from struggling households their parents can't provide headphones. If they had headphones, they would be able to repeat missed concepts at their own rate and add input in a low-stress environment. They could excel and move forward if they have acquired the necessary skills. There are countless reasons my students would benefit from headphones. Inspire, Embrace, Achieve.
