Traditionally seating in the classroom is great for traditional classrooms that are teacher-centered. My classroom is not a traditional classroom. My goal is to create a student-centered classroom where students have a choice and can take charge of their own learning. Currently, my students are able to choose how they would like to learn as well as how they would like to show their learning. Flexible seating gives my students the opportunity to choose the type of seating that will be the most beneficial for them. Engagement increases when students feel empowered when given choice in where and how they work and learn. The wobble stools I have chosen will give my students the opportunity to integrate movement into their day and their learning. Many students need to move in order to stay engaged, stay focused, and be more successful in their learning. These wobble stools will provide my students with the opportunity to sit around the room and move during the school day. Giving my students the opportunity to choose has done wonders in our classroom. My students are excited and engaged about learning and I hope that these new chairs will continue to increase motivation, engagement, and create more excitement for students.
