Too cold to go outside and play? Dreading another day of indoor recess? Our 6th grade Math Club members have just the solution for the Indoor Recess Blues! Homeroom teachers in grades 3-6 can add a Gobblet game to their indoor recess tool box. Sixth grade Math Club members will follow a schedule to to work with each homeroom and teach students to play one of their favorite thinking and strategy games, Gobblet. Solving challenges, persisting, cooperating and building teamwork is a perfect way to keep students engaged while they're stuck indoors. Besides teaching students how to play Gobblet, Math Club members will also help organize a Gobblet tournament for any interested 5th and 6th graders who are in good standing with their teacher. Math Club members will also run a lending library with Gobblet games. Homeroom teachers can choose one student each to week to take a Gobblet game home for the weekend. Math Club members will take the responsibility of checking the games and pieces before and after they are checked out. The best part? Students will grow their brains, build community and relationships while interacting with each other through the games and competition.
