Keeping speech therapy fresh for my littlest Sobos! They work so hard in speech and I want them to have the most engaging speech sessions possible, to see the most growth with their speech and language skills! I spend a lot of time following other SLPs on instagram and Facebook, and love seeing the other activities my colleagues in the field of speech pathology are doing to keep speech therapy engaging at the younger ages. I am looking to add to my repertoire of books to use in speech therapy, as well as activities that I can use with the books, to improve speech and language skills. Many of my students do not have extensive exposure to books at home. Reading enhances and promotes literacy skills. It also promotes speech and language skill development. Providing a library of books that have repetitive words and phrases helps language development. Having activities that go along with the books is not only engaging for the students, but also promotes receptive and expressive language skills. These activities will help my students with improving their speech and language skills, as well as their academic skills. Having seating cushions will help to show the students where to sit, and will keep them in one spot during therapy tasks.
