This equipment will help our classes to transition from a primarily sport-based curriculum to a fitness-based curriculum. A fitness-based curriculum will lead to benefits in the short term as well as life long knowledge of how to exercise throughout one's life. Specifically, the plyometric boxes, we will be able to challenge our students in a safe and fun way to exercise. The plyometric boxes are adjustable in height and padded to be able to accommodate all students regardless of ability. This boxes can be used to build muscular strength throughout the entire body. In addition to reaping the benefits of the plyometric boxes now, they will leave our PE program with a vast knowledge of lifelong fitness. Since we are a middle school, we are in a unique position where the students are developmentally ready for more advanced fitness program, but many do not have experience with this area. Through the use of the plyometric boxes, the students will learn in a safe and fun environment how to use them and the many benefits they have. In addition to reaping the benefits of the plyometric boxes now, they will leave our PE program with a vast knowledge of lifelong fitness.
