With these books I will be able to bring my guided reading groups to life! This will be the first step in starting a "book room" at my school. My dream is to have hundreds of books for the kids to read at all levels. We need to start somewhere and this is my somewhere. My Reading time is the most coveted time in my schedule. First grade is really reading, reading, reading with a side of everything else! My kids read in partners, they read independently but they don't get to read trade books in small groups of 4-6 students. I don't have the books. I picked these packs to that I could do just that, start integrating guided reading with clear learning targets connected to these books! Having multiple copies of texts will foster an environment that is rich in literature conversation, filled with decoding opportunities so that these kiddos can learn from one another in a small group setting!
