My students attend a STEM accredited school, therefore, as their teacher it is my job to take math standards and give students the opportunities to see them in real life. I enjoy taking topics such as slope and have students create an image using their knowledge of slope. It would be wonderful for students to get the opportunity to 3D print these. Also, when covering geometry, allowing students to 3D print shapes to then find the surface area of their shapes. I have noticed that geometry is one of the hardest concepts to cover, because students are having to do calculations on 3D objects on paper. Having 3D objects students printed themselves would engage them immediately. A 3D printer would create excitement and have students think about what standards they could use 3D printing with.
