Author Kate Dicamillo said it best when she stated, "When we read together, we connect. Together we see the world. Together we see one another." Our school has been focusing on the importance of building culture and community where we all support and listen to one another. One Book, One School initiatives not only provide ample literacy opportunities, but a chance to build community through literature. Imagine an entire community immersed in reading, sharing, and talking about one book, "Charlotte's Web". Imagine families reminiscing about their own experiences with this classic novel. Imagine engaging learners in science, math, and social studies concepts through literature. Imagine paintings, poetry, storytelling, and music bringing it to life. Imagine seeing one another as we connect through one "radiant", "terrific" book. That is what I wish for our school and community.
