I am trying to create a classroom library of high-interest books for my students as I implement independent reading time. Getting teens to read has become even more challenging in the era of social media. I promise my students every year that I will show them that they really can enjoy reading again, to get back that love that many of them had when they were younger (I like to think I can do it!) Too often, we lose them with the classics in high school! If they hate to read as it is, we're not doing them any favors! Show them that love again and they just might buy into those classics.
