For inner city students it can be difficult to visualize scientific concepts because they have very little real world exposure. With this project students will work in small groups to dissect their own owl pellets. This will provide students with a hands on experience where they will be able to discover and explore the different trophic levels found within an owl's ecosystem. This will tie into class study about biomes and more specifically how energy moves through these given biomes. Picture the surprise on their face when they start to dissect the pellet and discover the skull of a vole. For our students this will be unlike any science project they have done so far in school and hopefully it will instill the inquisitive nature that all future scientist have. Thank you for helping my students grow as learners and more importantly as scientist.
