I am interested in furthering my personal professional development in understanding about the Hmong people in order to become an effective teacher for my Hmong dual immersion students. I am currently teaching a 4/5 split class of 30 Hmong dual immersion students. I would love the opportunity to attend the 2020 First Global Hmong Study and Development Seminar in China to collect and gather culturally relevant information to inform my teaching practice. The purpose of the seminar is to preserve the traditional Hmong language, history, and customs in the field of education. This is an opportunity for me to share and learn from other educators and expertise who share the same passion so that I can bring it back to share with my students and preserve the language and customs. The expense of lodging, food and seminar will be covered by a Hmong philanthropist except for the flight to China. I need help in covering the expense for the flight in order to attend this professional development.
