These items will teach our kids about their feelings, how to identify them, and the processing of more intense emotions. Teaching our kids safety and emotional regulation is key to their success in life. Starting at such an early age will increase a students' ability to self identify emotions, process them, and become safe and regulated contributing members of society. All of these items will be put to use immediately as part of a social emotional curriculum for our kids that have an array of learning disabilities and social obstacles. These items will be the foundation for much of the social emotional learning in which we will be engaging. It will increase their knowledge and acceptance of the diverse world in which they live and make learning the harder stuff more fun! As part of the fun, our classroom strives to celebrate all of the great safe and regulated behavior of our students by offering rewards such as small fidgets and other things to help them address some of their social and emotional obstacles as well as to help them focus on tasks at hand.
