Breakout EDU kits are sets of boxes with locks where students have the opportunity to solve mysteries, answer puzzles, and use critical thinking to crack the locks and open the boxes. The Breakout EDU kit will allow my students to experience a new type of math class. A math class where they are in charge of their destination; a math class where students are the center of the class and the teacher is only a guide to understanding. Breakout boxes will bring life into our math class; students are not just working out math problems, they are using critical thinking skills to experience hands on mathematics. With my school being a Title I school, many students need active engagement to help them learn and stay focused. They need this type of experience so that they can understand that math is more than just listening to lectures and sitting at a desk. They need this experience to know that math can be fun. Finally, they need this experience to see that no matter what, they CAN learn math!
