Having books that are hand-picked by the students is essential to foster a love of reading. The more books and the more genres available to students, the greater the chance students will develop a love of reading that will follow them into adulthood. Many of our students come a low socioeconomic background and are not exposed to a lot of books outside of the school setting. Being surrounded by books that are of interest to a student will spark that desire to read not just that book, but the next book, and then the next book.
