Our 7th graders read Touching Spirit Bear and absolutely loved it. The novel focused on learning from your mistakes and how to overcome the effects of bullying. Students also learned about the Native American mediation tactic of Circle Justice as a new way to discuss your feelings and overcome negativity in your life by working with the community as well as your family and friends as support. This novel really resonated with middle school students. The sequel is just as enlightening and engaging. Our library only has ONE copy of the sequel of this novel. Students are begging to read Ghost of Spirit Bear this year and can't wait to dive in to this novel. Our 8th graders have been asking if this is going to be one of the novels we read this year and I would love to be able to read this novel with them and experience the new adventures that Cole, the main character, goes through in this new novel. This novel would be a wonderful addition to our classroom materials that we can use year after year.
