Our class will use a customized on-line social-emotional rating system at the beginning of each day to set the stage for a classroom learning environment conducive to better learning. Each student will anonymously register their most prevailing emotion and its level of severity and the class will discuss the array of emotions present in the class as they are charted in real time. Our class will work together to develop strategies for the day that help the entire class feel safe, secure, and valued. A separate report will be available to the class to observe and discuss trends over the course of the year. The teacher will have access to individual responses in order to support students as necessary. Our school has very minimal access to technology tools in each classroom. Theses tablets will also be available to support for English Language Learners (40% of the class) with translation and access to bilingual materials.
