Flexible seating is of the utmost importance in a classroom as it elevates student engagement - students learn best when they feel at ease in their learning environment. Flexible classrooms give students choice in what learning spaces work best for them and allow them to try those out. In turn, students can work more collaboratively and engage in more complex work. Flexible classrooms allow their learners to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. Flexible seating helps students gain greater flexibility and control of their surroundings - this helps build autonomy, builds higher motivation and academic performance, and improves overall behavior. Additionally, it allows students to advocate and make choices for themselves as learners, which will benefit them for years to come!
