The titles for our book clubs were chosen by the students. Our goal is to provide students opportunities to explore relationships (both at school and home) by using characters in each of the novels to model ways to build emotional stamina and maturity. One text that best illustrate the importance of being non-judgmental and giving people opportunities to assist us in making our dreams possible is Holding Up the Universe by Jennifer Niven. The Cliffs Book Club goal is to provide students pathways towards becoming both academically and emotionally strong through discussion and written reflections about characters they will learn from.

About my class
