I am requesting a variety of high quality art supplies for use in three third grade classrooms at our school. Having quality art supplies allows all students to experience success through artistic expression. There are many benefits for integrating art into classroom learning. A study of Missouri public schools in 2010, found that greater arts education led to fewer disciplinary infractions and higher attendance, graduation rates, and test scores. A report by Americans for the Arts states that young people who participate regularly in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, to participate in a math and science fair, or to win an award for writing an essay or poem than children who do not participate. With quality art supplies on hand, integrating art can happen much more easily and often within our classrooms. Art is accessible to all students in the classroom, and integrating art with other disciplines can help us reach students who might not otherwise be consistently engaged in their classwork. Providing greater opportunities for art promotes equity in learning. Please consider funding our proposal.
