Each day, we begin with a morning meeting on the rug together. We greet one another, read our morning message, learn new words, share, and build a community within our room. This is such a special time we share together each day, really getting to know one another and learn more about each other. In first grade, a great deal of our day is spent learning on the rug. We teach all lessons whole group, allowing students to all learn the information and then ask questions. Having a safe space to do this allows students to feel comfortable to open up and really share their thoughts.
