My students practice independent reading around my classroom, and they are allowed to go anywhere in the room where they feel most comfortable to really get into their books and read. Right now I have brought some chair cushions from home and some that I've purchased to allow students to sit places other than the carpet. However, I would like to give my students more ample choices to sit down using other flexible seating items. The flexible seating items I have requested for my class will give my students more choices and opportunities to feel comfortable and cozy when reading and when they are working independently, in groups or during centers. The vocabulary, non-ficton and reading skill games will help my students practice the skills we have learned in class while obtaining new vocabulary. One of the areas where my students need the most exposure and practice is using new and academic vocabulary and these centers and games will help my students obtain that in a fun and engaging way. Furthermore, the materials like astrobright paper, hole puncher, markers, folders will be used to make centers for my Spanish language arts class. For this group of students Spanish resources for centers or games is very limited and I make most of the activities and centers for them. Therefore, I will be using these items to make activities, centers and vocabulary cards for them. Lastly, the sharpener and pencils are materials that we used daily and will help us to have enough for the school year.
