The students I work with are in kindergarten - fifth grade. They have emotional regulation, behavior management and classroom behavior needs. I teach the students to apply the Zones of Regulation. The Zones of Regulation teaches the students the all feelings are okay and can be grouped into specific zones. The red zone is angry; the yellow zone is silly, worried, excited or frustrated; the blue zone is tired, sick, sad or bored and the green zone is calm, happy, focused and ready to learn. I work with the students to use a variety of strategies based on the zone they are feeling. Having materials for the students to access, decreases physical and verbal aggression and increases the students ability to remain in control of their behavior. This is why I am requesting support to have a variety of sensory activities to support many different emotional regulation needs. Music supports calming, squishy objects for fidgeting, a trampoline for movement, rocking chairs for calming and movement etc...
