High school without school pride and class community can be dull and lonely. Often, sophomores can feel forgotten between the classes with bigger milestones (coming to high school, prom, and graduation). With your help, our sophomores can feel important and connected within our large inner-city school because they have a chance at winning this year's spirit stick. While day-to-day moments can be special and help us all bond, our school pep rallies are always a time where we all come together and celebrate our school. As sophomore sponsor, I have a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bonds my sophomore students form with one another and with our school by supplying them with the tools they need to be a part of the celebrations during the spirit stick run. During the spirit stick run, whichever class is the most enthusiastic is announced as the winner of the pep rally and get to keep the spirit stick for the time between rallies. Without afterschool jobs and spending money, it's hard for our sophomores to invest in the same kind of supplies the Juniors and Seniors often do. It would mean so much to our sophomores to have help in showing the other classes some real competition!
