Our school has a focus on social emotional learning techniques to bridge the gap between the classroom and each individual student with varying needs. The identified materials will reduce the frequency of social emotional challenges that interfere with the learning process. For example, Weighted blankets will be used as a soothing sensory item when students are in crisis. Yoga mats and books will be used to teach mindfulness and calming techniques to promote self regulation. The requested materials will directly serve students who are having difficulty managing their emotions, who have low frustration tolerance, and students who lack coping skills.
