As a Science Class we are always using technology in some way. Sometimes we are watching videos or participating in a virtual lab that goes along with our current theme and helps to extend our lessons further. Occasionally they will conduct research for a design project and listening to music helps them to focus their thoughts. This is really hard to do in a class of 30 when so many are not able to buy headphones and others may forget or lose the ones they do have. That is why I believe that having a full set of headphones for the classroom will helpful, allowing my students remain FOCUSED on the task at hand while listening to music that inspires them. I love the idea of including the "shoe bench" because this will also give some "flexible seating" options while working as well as a place to safely store the headphones.
