I created this project to fund materials to build calming corners, safe spaces, and provide sensory tools for my students. I run a social and emotional learning classroom for students who have behavioral disabilities. The goal of this fundraiser is to help me create a trauma sensitive classroom so my students have a place to go when they are escalated and calm down. The use of sensory items as therapeutic tools are an evidenced-based practice for students with a number of behavioral disabilities. Providing these spaces and items will help my students feel safe at school and access their education more wholly.
