Witnessing students with special needs become independent adults is the most rewarding aspect of teaching for me. As we aim to prepare them for adult life, cooking is an integral part of caring for one's self. Many students are not afforded the opportunity to experience hands-on time in a kitchen. My students have taken an interest in cooking, and I'd like to provide them with the chance to cook during class time. Having small appliances affords the students the hands-on experience to prepare and cook the recipes that interest them. Upon graduation, they will have made several recipes and gained confidence in their abilities in the kitchen. Establishing fundamental cooking skills promotes healthy, independent adult lives. It would be wonderful to not only teach how to budget and shop for the most cost-effective meal options but to culminate the lesson with cooking it too! The items requested would be utilized to prepare various foods from breakfast to simple, healthy dinner options. Thank you for considering funding my amazing students in this cooking endeavor.
