Through the variety of comprehensible and engaging novels I will be able to flip my foreign language classroom and focus on having my students take ownership of their learning by choosing books and topics that interest them while learning Spanish in context. These books will also serve as a way to differentiate in my classroom, learners will choose their own level of books that work best for them and students will be able to share what they’re reading to me and their classmates in the target language. These books would be a game changer for me and my students; they will feel more capable of understanding Spanish since they will be encountering it through stories that interest them, and I will be able to focus my lesson plans on what they are reading and what interests them. Giving my students choices in my classroom is essential for them to feel like they’re in charge of their learning.
