Students get really excited when they can make things explode. I would love to do several labs, including the age old exploding volcano experiment, as well as making ice cream in a bag. I'd also like to make fizzing candy if I can get the equipment to do so. In addition to fun and excitement, students will learn the difference between physical and chemical reactions, be able to describe what happens during a chemical change and identify clues that a chemical change has taken place. Understanding these concepts lays the foundation for the other chemistry principals we'll be studying throughout the year.
