Our band class has plenty of percussionists but not enough keys! We need a new marimba in our school so all of my percussionists can play keyboards in all of our classes. Contrary to popular belief, percussionists really can play different pitches and a marimba is just one of the great instruments that allows them to do that. Being a percussionist myself, I know the importance of being fluent in mallet instruments, and wish I had learned more when I was their age. Along with my band classes I also teach general music and I would love to use a marimba to help teach notes and rhythms with a more hands on approach. Our students could learn so much if they had a this beautiful instrument.
