Traveling out of SC to Atlanta, Georgia will give my middle school students memories that will last a lifetime. This opportunity will prepare our students to become productive global citizens by giving them the opportunity to explore this diverse city and experience various historical sites. This trip will allow students learning that cannot occur within the parameters of classroom walls. They will experience firsthand what is was like to be discriminated against during segregation at the Human Civil Rights Museum. They will learn about racism, discrimination and prejudice that affects many subgroups of people. They will visit the home and community of one of the greatest Civil Rights leaders of all time, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They will hike the world's largest piece of exposed granite at Stone Mountain Park and explore the largest Aquarium in the Western Hemisphere. Students will explore how Coca Cola is bottled and sample various flavors sold around the world. They will see how the news is made at CNN, learn about their favorite college football players, eat some delicious food from the largest drive in fast food restaurant in the world, The Varsity, and enjoy some southern cuisine at the famous Mary Mac's Tea Room. They will also enjoy some down time while riding the roller coasters at Six Flags Amusement Park. This is the experience of a lifetime. Please help my students tour Atlanta, Georgia. Your donation will fund one bus for this trip- this funding will reduce the overall cost of the trip for every individual student.
