Our students are first grade inner city children who are both special needs and English language learners. Our school is an Early Childhood center who accept children from ages 3-7 years old. We foster a positive loving environment and promote good working habits. Our school population is 200 students with diverse backgrounds. Our curriculum follows the Boston Public School curriculum and the state wide standards, however we are creative in our approach to reaching those goals. We pride ourselves in teaching and creating attainable goals for individual students. Our low teacher student ratio helps to close the gap in achievement. Our first graders are striving to work on reading fluency and being exposed to many various genres of stories. It is our hope that our children in Grade 1 will have the opportunity to have listening centers in each classroom. This will allow children to listen to stories throughout the day and on various topics.
