My students are unique individuals and they each have different sensory needs to be able to function throughout the day. My autistic students love music, so the giant keyboard piano play mat will help them explore and move their body to make different sounds and play songs. The interactive sound storybooks and alphabet chart will help my non-talking students listen, learn, and expand their everyday vocabulary . The wooden sound puzzles will help my students practice their fine motor skills. The lacing thread toy is great for developing hand-eye coordination. The magnetic blocks will encourage my students to develop their creativity, learn patterns, shapes, and colors, as well as develop motor and social skills. Many students on the autism spectrum have difficulty processing everyday sensory information. My students are non-talkers, meaning they can't produce words to express how they feel. The standing art easel will be used in conjunction with the dot markers, art smocks, large brushes, tempera paint, and drawing paper so that my students are able to express how they feel and what they are learning through painting as well as develop their hand-eye coordination. Since the art easel is double-sided, students can use a variety of mediums to do art and will also use the alphabet picture magnets to develop vocabulary and practice writing skills. The computer speakers will be connected to the class laptop so that we are better able to hear our educational songs and videos. The lamination machine and laminator pouches along with the adhesive dots will be used to make matching task resources and activities that students can use to practice a variety of skills throughout the year. Your donation to our class project will tremendously help meet the sensory needs of my students!
