In a science classroom, labs are an essential activity for students. Owl pellets will be an essential material for my students to comprehend the anatomy of other organisms compared to our own skeletons. We can give them worksheets and show them pictures of bones and other parts of the body, but until they work on a hands-on activity, it's not meaningful to them. Students will examine owl pellets, learn how to remove the rodent bones from them, and compare and contrast their structures to those of human bones. Then they will reconstruct the skeleton of the owl pellet. If funded, students will have a wonderful learning opportunity they will always remember.
