As a push-in preschool speech language pathologist, I plan to use these materials in the two classrooms I serve. I will not only be using them to target the goals of my students with IEP's, but with the entire classroom of students (including typically developing peers). Between the two classrooms, these materials will reach over 90 preschool students. We know that children learn through play and manipulating their environment. Specifically, Children with communication delays within developmental delays learn best through play-based experiences that include repetition. Almost all of the materials I am requesting have some type of manipulative or tactile piece to them and can be used over and over again. In order for some students with communication needs to understand, they need a visual and/or tactile way to access the information. With the storytelling book & object sets, I plan to help my students with communication needs access books in their classroom by showing them/having them play with/hold the objects. For the higher level peers, I plan to help them learn the skill of sequencing using those objects with the stories. The phones will be used for students on my caseload with articulation errors. Amplification of the correct sounds, help children learn to produce the correct sounds.
