Velcro and laminating sheets are essential materials to all special education classrooms. When we teach students with complex needs, we have to get creative. My students have autism, and they are unable to write or verbally express their knowledge. Velcro, laminating machine, and laminating sheets make our classroom functional. We make curriculum, visuals, schedules, and communication books for our students. This means everything is laminated and Velcro is used! Laminating allows our materials to last longer and be reusable. Velcro and laminating sheets are also used to create individualized communication boards/books. This allows our students to communicate with the classroom staff their needs and wants. Velcro and laminating sheets are critical for my students’ communication and educational needs! Velcro and laminating sheets allow the classroom staff to make new materials for the students that will excite them!
