We have a wonderful school that has a rich literacy block, including 30 minutes of student-choice independent reading per day. The problem is that students can't find books they love! Day after day, they peruse the shelves, saying, "I don't like any of these books." The books we have are considered staples of young adult literature, or classics, but they're old. We haven't updated our junior library in five years. They keep asking for the same things: more sports, more mysteries and thrillers, more characters and authors who look like them. Help me put fun books in their hands so their reading achievement can continue to grow.
