Knowing not all students learn the same way and some need to move, a few of our teachers have used DonorsChoose to provide flexible alternative seating within their classrooms. I would like to take this unique approach a step further and make our hallways flexible for students who need movement breaks. We already have students who take a movement walk around our hallways, but it just isn’t enough. These students need structure and purpose to realign their brains so they can be prepared and focused for the next lesson in the classroom. I want to create a path along the walls and floors for students to follow, which will allow them to concentrate and activate their brains. Our classrooms are all inside the school, making a square 8 figure. Using this multi-sensory intervention will help reduce the number of office referrals active students receive for being a disruption and increase their overall classroom performance and work production.
