The purpose of this request is the technology available for the art students today in the Monte Vista High School art classroom is very limited. Students have access to six old computers using a mouse with the software program Paint, very elementary . Most of the photography students are using their own phones and having to download free software on their phones to edit photographs. With this funding students will be able to use up-to-date computer technology as a medium of expression to create digital art and it will also meet the needs of new, growing learning style of many students. Plus it will open up doors for students to enter their artwork in the digital art categories that are consistently a part of high school art shows today. Specifically pertaining to us, the IML High School Art Show, which we are hosting this year. Digital art is also often a category available for students to use in applying for art scholarships. The need for the new technology goes beyond creating art in the classroom. It will also allow students to develop their appreciation for, and understanding of the interrelationship among computer usage, career choices, and values.
