The students come from a central Arizona traditional school where there are high expectations which means homework most nights. This is an open enrollment school so parents from other districts can choose to bring their child to our school The students are like every other student throughout the nation. They watch TV, play video games, hang out with friends and want to be popular. The population is changing from having two parents with the mom staying home to either a single parent or where both parents work leaving the child to daycare or on their own. Since parents work, they are not reading to their children or even having much conversation with them. This leaves the children with a low vocabulary and low interest in books since the books and conversation are missing in the home.

About my class
