I am working hard to make my French classes as authentic and immersive as possible this year! To this end, I would love to root two of the year's French units in authentic texts through study of graphic novels. We would use En La Cuisine avec Alain Passard as a part of our study of how to talk about food, as well as cultural perspectives on French food. With the Google Cardboard viewers, we could also create tours of Passard's famous restaurants, as well as explore some of the locations that are key in the farm-to-table movement Passard is advocating for. I'm also very excited to re-work our unit on ecology vocabulary to include La Transperceneige (the Snowpiercer), a post-apocalyptic graphic novel about the effects of climate change. Our Google Cardboard viewers would additionally help us see first-hand some places in the world heavily affected by such change. I have seen first hand the impact that such units can have on the students' desire to learn in the language, and I cannot wait to see them become even more engaged with your help providing these resources!
