Students will participate in an afterschool book club utilizing the books funded through this project. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure students have experiences where they have voice and choice while learning what it means to be a collaborator, communicator, contributor, and critical thinker (4Cs). Ultimately, the purpose of Sheiko’s Project LIT Book Club is to engage students in culturally relevant books while fostering a love of reading. The book club will meet monthly. The goal is for students to want to be a part of this club and ultimately continue to grow their love of reading, become social justice advocates, in conjunction with living the 4Cs.
