These books will enhance the representation in our library. It creates a space that is going to be balance of emotions, race, individual abilities, family compositions, and more. It enhances the print rich environment in which my students are immersed daily. Pictures books take students away from their current moment and allow them to adventure, feel heard, connect, and immerse into new time and place. Books should feel safe and representative to all students. A read aloud should connect with students, they should see themselves within the pages of the text. These books will allow an approachable way to read about emotions, to address diversity, and to embrace the differences amongst people. These books will fill long empty gaps within their independent reading time choices.
