Making positive connections with parents and guardians is so important in encouraging reading at home. Often times, parents ask, "What can I do at home to help my child?" Sending fun, engaging activities home in a bag encourages parental involvement. Giving students the opportunity to "show what they know" to families, boosts self esteem, allows for quality time activities, and opens up the conversation between school and home. Studies show that students who read outside of school perform better in the classroom. The hope is that this project will serve as a "springboard" for students to continue to borrow classroom materials to share and enhance learning at home!

About my class
