Producing quality and expressive photos and videos teach insight, perseverance, and creativity - qualities many students are not aware they possess. The learning environment is coated with rote, standardized testing and a ceaseless routine that can numb these talents. Visual arts frees the mind to express oneself, to dare to go beyond the perceived boundaries of high school education and explore both the inner and outer realms of self and environment. Quite simply, to see one's creation on photo medium or in a video creates or frees an identity for a student, enhancing a student's overall concept of "self". The production of visual arts encourages students to get into the nitty-gritty of creativity, planning, calculating and developing a strategy and tactics to use with a piece of art that is recorded, transferable and permanent, to be shared at school, in the community, and within the family.
