The materials that we are requesting are born of a desire to equip students with the materials needed to help them understand self-regulation. We recently adopted the Zones of Regulation to help all students understand self-regulation and understand their emotions and feelings. Being implemented school-wide, kindergarten through eighth grade, the program has been well-received. We find ourselves with some needs to continue to help students experience sensory integration and regulation, emotional self-understanding and regulation, executive functioning, and cognitive control of behavior, visual scaffolding, and help them to develop self-awareness. Our hope is to incorporate a special space within our school community where students can go to self-regulate and help negate the disruptive behaviors that can overshadow their strengths and abilities; the gifts they'll share with the world.
